Rabbits are small mammals in the family Leporidae of the order Lagomorpha, found in several parts of the world. There are seven different genera in the family classified as rabbits, including the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), Cottontail rabbit (genus Sylvilagus; 13 species), and the Amami rabbit (Pentalagus furnessi, endangered species on Amami Ōshima, Japan). There are many other species of rabbit, and these, along with pikas and hares, make up the order Lagomorpha.

Why does my rabbit use the litter box for some of her defecating, but not all? How should I train her?
Q. I [very] recently got a pet loinhead rabbit. She is four months old. She always urinates in the same corner of her litter box, and does most of pooping in it, but always poops in the rest of her cage as well. Why does she do this? I know that rabbits can be litter box trained; how do I go about getting her to use the box 100% of the time?

A. Rabbits are very rarely 100% litter trained. You will always get the odd poo in the wrong place. She is still young so just pick them up and put them into the proper toilet area. Remember to get her spayed at six months so that she doesn't start using urine to mark her territory (+ to stop uterine cancer)

How do I take care of a newborn rabbit that stays outdoors?
Q. I have 3 rabbits that live inside the same cage. The cage is a large with 2 rooms. My rabbit had 5 babies this morning and 4 died. So what do I need to keep the other rabbit alive? It lives outdoors with 3 grown female rabbits. I will surely appreciate any answers. I do not have any kind of kitten milk. Thanks for your answers.

A. Mother & baby do need to come inside. Not to sound like the harbinger of doom, but if the others didn't make it, please try not to be too upset if the last one passes on, too. But if you can set up quarters indoors for a couple of months, the mother will take it from there. You also need to find out which of the other 2 is the daddy, & either have him neutered, or have mother bunny spayed, or seperate them permanently. I wholly agree w/ the other person that answered, please bring everybody inside. Not to sound pushy or rude, but what's the point of having bunnies if they're stuck outside & can't play w/ you for an hour or so every day? Do they have any interaction w/ you other then getting their dietary needs met every day, & their… [cont.]

How should I introduce a new puppy to our rabbit?
Q. We are about to get a puppy goldendoodle. We have had a black mini-rex (female and spayed) rabbit for the last year and a half. At the moment the rabbit has the run of the house when we are home and has her cage when we are not. I am looking for suggestions/tips for introducing the puppy and the rabbit so that ideally we will be able to let the rabbit continue to run around with the puppy.

A. Try letting the dog sniff the cage first. Keep the rabbit away from the dog for the first few hours. -This is the time when a dog gets antsy and wants to sniff out his new home... possibly mark his territories. Its normal! Bring the rabbit out in your arms, and have someone holding the dog. SLOWLY walk closer to the dog, making sure he sees the rabbit. Let them sniff each other out. Finally, let the rabbit roam, and the dog roam. But keep them supervised!!! I would say within a months time, they should be okay with each other.
