From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A bay is an area of water mostly surrounded or otherwise demarcated by land. Bays generally have calmer waters than the surrounding sea, due to the surrounding land blocking some waves and often reducing winds. It can also be an inlet in a lake or pond. A large bay may be called a gulf, a sea, a sound, or a bight. A narrow bay may also be called a fjord if its sides are relatively steep. A cove is a circular or oval coastal inlet with a narrow entrance; some coves may be referred to as bays. Most small bays are formed as soft rock or clay is eroded by waves. Any hard rock is eroded less quickly, leaving headlands. Any bay may contain fish and other sea creatures or be adjacent to other bays (for example, James Bay is adjacent to Hudson Bay). Large bays, such as the Bay of Bengal and the Hudson Bay, have varied marine geology. There are various ways that bays can be created. Structural engineer has confirmed that the movement in our bay window causing a gap between the house and the bay was caused by badly fitted windows. The window company were not happy at first but after coming to see the window and the bay, have admitted that they were badly fitted. They are willing to fit bracing and sort the windows out but this will not fix the fact that the roof has dropped and there is a gap between the house and the bay. Can we ask for compensation and would we have a legal case against them? Thank you both for answering, really appreciate it. Asked by Minki - Wed Apr 28 16:46:29 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. as the windows were badly installed in the first place and the fitters did not support the bay properly before fitting your new bay added to that they did not by the sound of your question use bracing supports or poles which are an integral part of the bay window structure . these supports should have been inserted left and right of the front section. they must now jack up the bay window to the correct height. its possible now the height of the windows are going to be to short so the bay will need to be bricked up to the new level of bracing blocks inserted around the top of the window them made up from the inside and outside . that's what they would probably do . in reality they should replace the whole lot but my guess is that wont… [cont.] Answered by whyme - Thu Apr 29 14:49:13 2010 What are some good places to play competitive volleyball in the bay area? Q. I'm planning a road trip this summer from northern California up to Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. However, I'm having trouble figuring out a good way to get into the national park without chartering a private boat or a plane, which might be a little bit out of our budget. I'd like to drive to a point that allows us to spend the least amount of time traveling on the marine highway or by plane. Haines is as close as you're going to get by car. Beyond that, there are no roads, like much of the state. If you just want to see the park, then a flightseeing trip would be the best option. If you plan on hiking around in the park or backpacking, you'll need to find a boat to take you there and pick you up. Either way it's a fairly expensive proposition. Due to its relative inaccessibility, most people visit it via cruise ship.
