When will golf courses be made illegal throughout the world?
Q. It's well established now both that global warming is a very real international crisis akin to the threat of nuclear holocaust in its end result, and the threat is increasing with every day, and every plane taken by every traveller, and every car taken down the road. .. and every golf course that uses water that spreads fertilizer and pesticide around the near countryside, when the land could be returned to native trees for more oxygen for us all, and for birds to in turn help promote growth of more trees elsewhere. People travel across the world just to see 'beautiful nature' and go hiking amongst the trees in New Zealand - more than the number of people who go there to play golf - so for local tourist opportunities in other countries… [cont.]

What are the best golf courses to play in the Atlanta area?
Q. I'm a huge golfer and am visiting Atlanta to attend the final four in late march and early April of this year. I want to golf a couple of the best courses in the area. Price is no concern. Obviously it would be great to golf Augusta National but that is most likely impossible as it is a very private club. I would appreciate any suggestions, names, web sites, or links to the best courses in the area. Thank you for your time.

A. Go to Golfdigest.com and look up state-by-state rankings of courses. They do a great job of ranking courses and can give you much more information than we can do here. Try the following link, but if it doesn't work, just search on Golf Digest.

A. Probably best to find a friend who has played some golf and let him sort of guide you around the first time. It isn't too difficult and most courses are marked fairly well, but until you've done it a few times best to have a guide along.

How do Professional Golf caddies measure distances to the hole during a tournament round?
Q. I havent seen any caddy carry a golf gps or one of those radar assisted measuring devices to calculate the distances to a particular hole. All they seem to carry is a notepad.. So do they have electronic devices to assist them and we just dont see them use it on television coverage or do they follow some other method?? Or is it a combination of both?? Really interested in knowing this..Thanks guyz..
Asked by Firefly - Wed Aug 5 02:44:15 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They use an old-school yardage book created for the tournament. Typically, the caddies will buy said yardage book before the tournament and then walk the course to verify yardages and add yardages to/from specific points. They might use a rangefinder/GPS during practice rounds but they're verboten during tournament rounds. Either way, the caddie is still walking the course on his own at least once before Thursday. The players/caddies are given pin sheets which show distances to the hole...it's a crude drawing of the green with two numbers (one from either the front or back, and one from either the left or right side). The caddie will always have that yardage book with him/her for the tournament because of the copious notes that they… [cont.]

A. First off let me give respect to your wife. WOW! What a gift!! Although I must say, she probably has no idea what she just got herself into. Golf is like crack. Once you bomb your first drive down the center of the fairway or hit that perfect lazer like iron shot to within a foot of the pin, you are hooked! No doubt about it. The more you play, the more you "HAVE TO" play. Golf will creep into every part of your life. Dinner conversations, taking divots in your front yard, making practice swings while standing in the frozen food isle at the grocery store, you name it and golf will be there.Good luck to BOTH of you.;-) As for your question, I would Highly recomend COBRA irons and woods. A. Dear friend. As you and I know that those $500k is not enough. But don't make that into a problem. There are several creative ways and solutions to pursue this goal. The goal and the mission will be hard but not impossible. First of all, do you have an ideal location in where you want to develop this in? What State or Country? Mexico? USA? California? If you don't have a location already, then I suggest that you should start thinking for a location. Location is key! Second, upon deciding for a location. I would recommend in doing an in depth report of the business model. Such as in how this would be finance. Marketing strategies? Business plan? Finance plan? ETC! About financing this project. A. Just depends on club/shaft combination as well. The straightest for me so far has been the Taylormade R7 425 TP, but the TP is expensive. The regular Taylormade R7425 is only like 225$ on ebay now. I have one with a USTV2 shaft, which is great. Also, for accuracy purposes, I would look at the Callaway FTI series. Those were very accurate, especially with the Mitsubishi Diamana shafts. Go to your local golf store and try out some different club/shaft combo's if possible. Once you find what you want, try looking on ebay for great deals. Hope this helps...

What is a good way to practice golf over the winter?
Q. Winter's here and the golf season is over, but I have tryouts for the golf team in March. Since no courses will be open until after then, how can I keep from getting "stiff" over the winter. What are some good ways to practice?
Asked by NY Golfer - Thu Dec 28 22:22:45 2006 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can find a indoor driving range or even an outdoor because they have turf instead of real grass and then you can practice your drive. You can also go to Putt-Putt and this is like the BEST way to practice your putting because you have to read the greens and negotiate harder slopes/turns. Use your real putter though. Go to a pro shop and use their swing analyzer and this can tell you if your swing is wrong. I recommend the Medicus Dual-Hinge driver and the 5-iron. These have helped mold my swing and I hit longer, straighter shots consistently. You'll have to get out there on the course some time in the cold if you want to really practice. Just don't play a full 18 or even 9. You can use the practice greens and bunkers even the driving… [cont.]

How can I keep a golf shirt collar from becoming distorted?
Q. Almost all my golf shirts, after being laundered a few times, get permanently wrinkled or distorted, so that they look really bad. Nothing seems to fix the problem.
Asked by Landlord - Wed Jul 19 09:04:04 2006 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments

A. You need to buy a higher quality shirt to avoid distortion. I have L.L. Bean shirts that are several years old and they still are straight. Walmart or Kmart will wash out of shape on no time. To avoid wrinkles you need to get them out of the dryer and folded as soon as they are dry. You may have to resort to ironing the ones you have at are wrinkled. Good Luck
