Why does the US care about democracy in Iraq yet support and fund dictatorships around the world?
Q. Pakistan, Indonesia under Suharto, brutal regimes in South and central America were all backed by the US. Why does the US suddenly care about freedom? Or is it just a lie to get to oil?

A. First of all, answers to questions of this nature are extremely complex to understand for the general population because one has to have a thorough understanding of the world and regional history. Further more, one must also have an understanding of their regional ethics because they all have their own set of values that sometimes don't quite fit into the thinking mold of popular culture. Finally, in my view, who is right and who is wrong can be decided quite easily by establishing the immigration trend of people from one country to another. So, if every country in the world said people were free to immigrate to any country of their choice, which country do you think will experience the largest wave of people trying to gain entry? How do I go about purchasing a SIM card in the US for use in international European travel?
Q. I'm going to be traveling to Europe in a couple weeks, and I'm trying to get cell phone service while I'm there. I've got my hands on an unlocked GSM phone, but I'm curious how I go about purchasing a SIM card for use in international travel. I know that you can buy SIM cards for one country at a time, but can you buy a SIM card that will work in multiple countries? Are there any companies in the US that sell these SIM cards so that I could buy one before I travel? Thanks!
Asked by jackbellows2003 - Mon May 7 23:27:33 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Actually, torskie is somewhat correct. you will need an unlocked quadband gsm phone. Quadband allows you to use it anywhere in the world. But wrong about that you only need the phone. You do need a prepaid SIM card. And it's only possible to buy a SIM card for multiple countries IF that service is availble in that country. I'm posting a link at the bottom that lists a SIM card that will work in multiple countries; I hope this helps you.

What does the existence and sequence of prime numbers tell us about the universe?
Q. Would all universes have the same prime numbers? Does the sequence appear to be part of a hidden symmetry? What does the pattern of prime numbers tell us about infinity?
Asked by JS57 - Sat Dec 1 22:59:42 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I agree. The existence of prime numbers is of that of a mathematical, and not a physical nature. Prime numbers do not tell us anything about infinity, they're just numbers that are in a sequence. They don't tell us anything about infinity, and saying that just because they are in a pattern, will tell us something about infinity is just ridiculous. Saying that is exactly the same as saying that the flowers on my mousemat tells me something about infinity just because they are arranged in a pattern.

A. This differs from State to State. In most States, you file with your Secretary of State, pay a fee to the Party to which you wish to be affiliated, and that's it. (Most people also hold a press conference to announce they've entered the race too.) Afterwards, you need to file with the Federal Election Commission rather regularly (Quarterly at least.) They'll give you some of that information when you file. I've included a link to some of the forms for Virginia. The second link gives you a list of the five forms you'll need to complete, and where to send them. Good luck to you!

A. Hello, I've worked in the USA on numerous occasions. I'm from the UK, I don't know where you are from, every country has different laws that apply to visas. Anyways, my first job was on a career training visa or J1 (usable as a student or graduate, see The second way was by a H2B visa. This is for seasonal employment. I only used it for 6 months of summer work but I know people who work for one company for 6 months in the summer then switch companies for 6 months in the winter. For this type of visa you must find a company to sponsor you. Many companies offer these visas for seasonal work. This type of work is generally in hotels or agriculture. If you want any more info email me, I worked in the USA for summers over 5 years.

A. Before the great Kurukshetra battle, Arjuna has a moral crisis about killing his family, wondering what good is winning a war if it means that everyone you love will be dead. Krishna takes him aside and explains to him (in what is known as the Bhagavad Gita) all about dharma (our duty) and human nature and the like. An easy focus for your paper would be to associate dharma with the caste system. (Although in all fairness, at the time the Mahabarata was written, India had yet to develop the caste system and was still in an earlier system called varna, but I digress.) If you use Arjuna as an example you can talk about how Krishna tells him that he has a responsiblity to his people and the greater good over his personal wants and issues. … [cont.]

What do I need to know about sending a soda (among other things) as a gift to Canada from the US?
Q. I've never shipped anything to Canada (let alone soft drinks) before, and looked at previous answers and saw links to a site that made getting it there seem incredibly complicated. Is this going to be too much trouble? I wanted to surprise a friend with a Japanese soda and some other gifts for her birthday. A. From reading the USPS website, it seems like you could ship soda within the US with permission, but not internationally without all kinds of permits, due to a hazard of explosion. You could try shipping it to her with UPS or FedEx. They don't say anything specifically about carbonated liquids on their website, but I don't know for sure if would be something you'd need to specially package and label or if they'd ship it internationally.
