Golf is a precision stick-and-ball sport in which competing players (golfers) using many types of clubs, attempt to hit balls into each hole on a golf course in the lowest number of strokes. Golf is one of the few ball games that does not use a standardized playing area; rather the game is played on golf "courses", each one of which has a unique design and typically consists of either 9 or 18 holes. Golf is defined in the rules of golf as "playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules".

Golf competition is generally played for the lowest number of strokes by an individual, known simply as stroke play, or for the lowest score on the most individual holes during a complete round by an individual or team, known as match play.

What are the best places to golf in the Chicagoland area?
Q. What are the best places to golf in the Chicagoland area? My boyfriend and I are going to move to the area. He loves to golf and I would like to know about the different golf courses/centers in the area. I have never golfed. It is almost his birthday and I would like to surprise him with some type of golfing excursion or golfing gift certificates. Do you have any ideas as to where/what I can give him?

What is the dress code for playing golf during the summer on a golf course?
Q. My husband and I are getting interested in golf and we would like to know what the dress code is for golf courses during the summer. Thanks in advance.

A. It depends upon the golf course you play. Some local public courses have no dress code (just decent). Most expensive courses or country clubs require long slacks and pull over shirts with collars, usually no jeans, halters, or short shorts. You do need regular golf shoes, the usual golf equipment, and some kind of cap or hat. It's a fun game. Learn and have fun. You'll meet many nice and polite people.

What is the cheapest disc golf website out there?
Q. Overall, disc golf is a cheap sport since most courses are free, but the actual discs are not so cheap! Usually $13-17 bucks at my local sports stores. Besides eBay, can anyone recommend the cheapest online store they know of? Thanks!
